Mad dogs and Englishmen #ramble

It is Sunday morning and so as usual I’ll share my thoughts with you. It’s wet and cloudy here in the Black Country but I am thinking of an afternoon out taking photographs today. This week was one to remember as the temperature soared to 37 C. Noel Coward’s song said that “Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun”; I stayed in the shade!

Inflation

Inflation and particularly energy prices are concerning many people. I had an email from my energy company and they quoted me over £3500 a year for a fixed-priced tariff. They must be joking! My tariff ends at the end of August and they are quoting an inflated tariff to see if they can get away with it. I’ll revert to the standard tariff at the end of August which is price capped so that is the tariff I am choosing. Petrol prices are also very high but there were lots of people heading for Dover this week for holidays on the continent so some people have loads of money!

Rishi Sunshine

Rishi Sunshine with the permanent smile will probably be our next Prime Minister. I do hope so, Liz Truss would be a disaster. He has promised to take action to reduce the NHS backlog so I think he understands the priorities, he also wants to win the next General Election. I think he will take the job more seriously than Boris anyway. He also understands the most vulnerable need help this year with energy bills. Boris was the Peppa Pig Prime Minister, who told too many porkies…

Blogging

When I started blogging, my aim was to write satirical posts and use my photographs. It didn’t quite work out that way. Now, this new blog has limited space for my photos so I am considering using my Photobucket account for the pictures which would be a little inconvenient. If I win the Lotto I’ll pay someone to set up a blog for me that works the way I want it to! In the meantime, I’ll keep writing and keep taking photos. I take some photos for our local history group. That’s something else that I do that I’m not entirely happy with but I keep it going. It would take more than a lottery win to fix that! Today I have a historic building in mind, I’ll go to photograph it before the bulldozers flatten it. Today’s picture is of narrowboats near Walsall Art Gallery. I’ll be headed in that direction again today. I might even go to the art gallery, a bit of culture might inspire me to do something different and new. Who knows?
