Today’s picture is of the Walsall canal as it leaves Wednesbury and heads towards Ocker Hill. I came across this picture this morning and resized it to use on this blog. It shows that the industrial canals can be quite beautiful these days and the cyclists show that they can be used for leisure. If you follow this canal you eventually come to Birmingham city centre. If you decide to go the other way, you end up at the wharf outside Walsall Art Gallery where I’ve taken photographs many times.
It is Sunday morning, of course, and so as always, I’ll share my thoughts with you. I might go out this afternoon and maybe take some more photos. I woke very early this morning in pain with arthritis but we can’t let these things stop us so I took lots of pills and now I’m preparing lunch. I will definitely go out and try my best. That is all we can do in life, just try our best even when the circumstances are against us.
Politics are evident in the UK on a Sunday morning with politicians getting grilling on TV about their plans. I was encouraged by today’s political news. Leaders of both main parties appear to now realise the importance of integrity and economic stability. However, neither appears to have great leadership qualities. They both need to focus on trying to be authentic. Authentic people can be honest about their personal weaknesses. They need to stop the blah, blah, blah and get real.
I hope through this blog and through social media, I engage with people in a real way. I’m having a bit of a bad day and so I admit it and I think readers can appreciate that. None is us have a super happy time every day and none us feel particularly positive about the future at the moment, so why pretend? I am relatively positive though. I’m not sitting in an African village wondering where my next meal is coming from. I’ve got a home to live in, food to eat and a good life compared to many people. I can lie in bed watching television and drinking beer when I want to (and often do!). I wake in pain on cold mornings. I soon fix that with medication.
There is a tendency for people to use the word super a lot and gloss over life’s problems. Life can be hard and no it isn’t always “challenging”, often is very shitty but we get through it. Stop glossing over the problems by calling them challenging and be more authentic. Get real and sound authentic when you speak and when you write.
